Our Mission
OCA is a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States.
To fulfill its mission, OCA has established the following goals:
* to advocate for social justice, equal opportunity and fair treatment;
* to promote civic participation, education, and leadership;
* to advance coalitions and community building; and
* to foster cultural heritage.
Through a network of over 80 chapters and college affiliates across the country, OCA provides a forum for promoting grassroots activism, community engagements and important news and information on public policies and current affairs that impact the lives of Asian Pacific Americans.
As a national organization, OCA’s headquarters in Washington D.C. makes it possible to effectively monitor federal legislations and work with other major national organizations on issues of mutual concerns.
OCA was the first major national Asian Pacific American civil rights advocacy and education organization that was headquartered in the country’s capital and was the first to have established a permanent presence in 2006 through purchase of a building and establishing the OCA National Center for APA Leadership.
OCA takes no collective position on the politics of any foreign country and focuses solely on the welfare and civil rights of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States.
