Founded in 1973 as the Organizations of Chinese Americans, OCA has been committed to advancing the social, political and economic wellbeing of Asian Pacific Americans in the country.
Be part of a national network
OCA San Francisco Bay chapter is part of a national network of 80 chapters and affiliates. For purposes of advocacy on public policies, San Francisco Bay chapter members will benefit from not only resources provided by the national office, but also the strength of all the chapters within the OCA family. In the state of California, there are 7 chapters which collectively can give a strong and effective voice on statewide issues and initiatives. The lives of Asian Pacific Americans are impacted by legislations and policies at all levels of government. As a national organization headquartered in Washington D.C., OCA effectively monitors federal legislations and represents the interests of OCA members, disseminate information to local chapters and coordinate grassroots actions to reach advocacy goals.
Be informed of federal legislations and initiatives
In addition to information distributed by local chapter, OCA members will also receive regular e-updates from OCA headquarters, press releases on important current happenings as well as the magazine, IMAGE published bi-annually.
Unique networking opportunities
OCA members include leaders and activists in government, business and local communities. With 80 chapters and affiliates, OCA provides unique networking opportunities for members of the SF Bay chapter. Staffs at the OCA National Center are also ready to help members with identifying resource and opportunities to achieve the mission and goals of OCA.
Special programming opportunities
As a major national organization with active local chapters and affiliates, OCA is the partnering organization of choice of many corporations that wish to fund and implement educational and other programs in the Asian Pacific American communities. San Francisco Bay members will be able to participate in all programs offered by OCA and the chapter can also submit applications to host or participate in many program opportunities such as the entrepreneur empowerment seminars sponsored by State Farm, the OCA/UPS national mentorship initiative, and the annual leadership training program held in Washington D.C. coordinated jointly by OCA and JACL.
