Established in 1987, the San Francisco Bay chapter was founded by a number of community activists who felt the need for an organization that focuses on federal legislations and policies that impact the lives of Asian Pacific Americans. As the first APA national civil rights organization headquartered in Washington D.C., Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) has been uniquely positioned since 1973 to provide an effective voice for Asian Pacific Americans fighting for civil rights, justice and equal opportunities.
